I believe that I will finish this blog - positive affirmations, positive results.

"A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes." Gandhi

As far as writing blogs, I've managed without an affirmation so far. An affirmation starts with a belief. That belief becomes a thought that over time becomes entrenched in your brain. Of course beliefs & thoughts are good, but the rubber needs to meet the road. You have to put your beliefs into practice over & over & over again. Your beliefs will become facts. Results will ensue.

Affirmations wield a lot of power. You are what you think. Your thoughts are powerful enough to rewire your brain. You can use affirmations to give you a sense of calm, strength, focus, courage, keeping things in perspective, etc. Had Stuart Smalley not stood in front of that mirror & repeated the following affirmation on SNL with such courage & conviction, there is no way Al Franken would be in the Senate today: "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me."

Not affirmations but inspirational just the same.

1. "It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe." Muhammad Ali

2. "As you walk down the fairway of life, you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round." Ben Hogan

3. "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up." Vince Lombardi

4. "If you have everything under control, you're not moving fast enough." Mario Andretti

5. "The road to easy street goes through the sewer." John Madden

6. "If you believe it, the mind can achieve it." Ronnie Lott

7. "Make sure your worst enemy doesn't live between your 2 ears." Laird Hamilton

If you can remember it & remember to say it often...

You want to chose an affirmation that is simple, positive, present tense & potent. It has to speak to who you are & what you believe right now. It usually starts with an I statement. If you have ever watched a United States' soccer game, you know their rallying cry: "I believe that we will win." It's amazing how these 6 simple affirming words galvanize American fans as they watch soccer games. I didn't realize that a Naval Academy cadet invented this affirmation in 1998.

Choose one of these affirmations or invent your own. Now it's time to make your affirmation a habit that you do every day at least one time a day. Your options are limitless as far as when you practice your affirmation. You just to need to establish the routine. You could do it before breakfast, lunch & dinner. What about every time you drive? You might want to link your affirmation to another healthy habit such as every time you drink water. If you're facing a challenging situation, an affirmation might help. Thanks for reading.
